Sea Glass Mosaic Supplies and Tips
When working with Glass Mosaics there are tools that are required in order to have a successful project. For the most part tools like in most other cases are unique to the material you are working with. For the purpose of this article we are assuming you are working with Sea Glass Mosaics so we will be giving you an in-depth overview of on some of the tools you need to work with them.
If you’re a first time mosaic user be it for art, home renovation or just hobby there are starter kits available and we recommend them. They usually include everything you need to get started as a beginner such as grout, glue, and a cutting tool, in this instance a glass cutting tool would do the trick being you’re working with glass mosaics. A glass cutter will be the greatest weapon in your arsenal of tools because it allows you to cut your glass mosaic to fit a specific shape or to modify them to fit a design or pattern you are trying to create. Make sure to take proper care of your cutting tool and maintain them after a hard day of working, with proper maintenance they can last forever.
As for glues, from my personal experience I recommend user Welbond as for bonding purposes simply because it is second to none – after years of working with mosaic and trying out just about every glue available in the market I can say it’s simply the best around. Also to its benefit it is water resistant and in case of a spill some soap and water cleans it up right away, in fact the only draw back is that you can’t use it on pools, fountains or other water areas as the glue is water based.
The last thing to take note of the mosaic tile grout. It comes pre-mixed with sand which is used to provide strength between gaps in the mosaics. Two other tools which aren’t really needed but might make your live easier when working with sea glass mosaics are tweezers and mounting grids.
