Homeowners who are redecorating a kitchen or bathroom and want to incorporate natural materials can consider using marble tile. This versatile material lends an elegant air to any room whether it is used on floors, walls or shower stalls. With the wide variety of unique patters and designs there is something to match virtually any décor.
One great characteristic of marble is its unique appearance. As a natural stone, there are variations in texture and designs that make every surface absolutely unique. Marble tile can be effectively used to accent a kitchen as a colorful Backsplash or to add decorative elements to a Roman bathtub.
When used in a shower, marble will have to be sealed just like any other type of stone tile. Marble is not difficult to care for but cleaning products made especially for natural stone are required to make it last. Using a cleaner made with acidic ingredients will increase the potential of damage to the surface. A soft cloth or mop should be used to wipe it down because abrasive sponges can potentially scratch marble. Cosmetics, nail polish and some hair care products have acidic properties that can etch the marble. If there is a spill, it should be cleaned up immediately to prevent damage.
Marble can typically be found in black or white and in slab or tile form. This stone takes a long time to absorb heat so it will have a cooling effect on any room during warm weather. By the same token, a marble floor will take a long time to warm up during the winter months.
Marble tile will add a touch of class to any room in the house. Consumers should be prepared to pay a bit more for this material but the durability and beauty will be worth the investment.
